Celebrating Community, Creativity & Connection
In support of Volunteers’ Week UK

From 1–7 June 2026, Emerald Book Club will be hosting a week of community-focused activities to celebrate volunteers, creativity, literacy, and togetherness across Coventry and our online platforms.

This special week will bring people together through community action, reading, gardening, networking, and digital engagement opportunities for members around the world.

🌿 In-Person Volunteer Activities

🧹 Community Cleanup Day

Wednesday 3 June | 1 PM – 3 PM

Join us as we help clean and refresh community spaces in Coventry. Volunteers will work together to collect litter, tidy public areas, and promote environmental awareness while connecting with others in a positive atmosphere.

Activities Include:

• Litter picking
• Community beautification
• Group networking & socialising
• Environmental awareness discussions

🌱 Community Gardening Evening

Thursday 4 June | 5 PM – 7 PM

An evening dedicated to planting, gardening, and creating greener community spaces. This activity encourages wellbeing, teamwork, and sustainability while enjoying nature.

Activities Include:

• Planting flowers and greenery
• Basic garden maintenance
• Outdoor networking
• Mindfulness and wellbeing through nature

💻 Online Volunteer Activities

📚 Volunteer Book Review Challenge

Volunteers can post short book reviews on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Goodreads, or Discord to encourage reading and literary discussion.

Volunteer Roles:

• Writing reviews
• Recording video reviews
• Recommending books
• Creating quote graphics

🎤 Online Poetry & Reading Sessions

Volunteers can host or participate in:

• Poetry readings
• Storytelling sessions
• Live discussions
• Open mic performances
• Author spotlights

These can take place on TikTok Live, Discord, WhatsApp, or Facebook.

🔤 Vocabulary Tuesday

An interactive online literacy activity where volunteers post:

• Word of the day
• Definitions & examples
• Vocabulary quizzes
• Creative sentence challenges

This encourages learning, engagement, and participation across social media platforms.

📱 Social Media Volunteer Team

Volunteers help promote the week’s activities online by:

• Posting event flyers
• Sharing live updates
• Creating TikTok videos & reels
• Taking photos/videos during events
• Interviewing participants

✍️ Creative Content Volunteers

Support Emerald Book Club by helping create:

• Blog posts
• Captions & newsletters
• Event summaries
• Volunteer testimonials
• Graphics & promotional content

🌍 Community Engagement Ambassadors

Volunteers help grow the community by:

• Inviting new members
• Welcoming participants online
• Engaging in discussions
• Encouraging participation in activities
