About the Event

Join us for our monthly End of Month Book Club Meeting, where book lovers from around the world come together to discuss the month’s chosen read. Whether you’ve read every page or only managed a few chapters, all are welcome to share their thoughts, insights, and questions in a relaxed and engaging environment. Each month, we select a compelling book spanning genres such as fiction, non-fiction, mystery, fantasy, and more. The book selection is announced at the beginning of each month, giving you ample time to dive in and explore.

The Obit by Ethelbert Miller

After reading my obituary
folks went to their local bookstores
looking for my books. For a few days I was often quoted
like Baldwin and
people went looking for T-shirts with my image. My
books rested on the desks of teachers filled with
bookmarks, notes, and underlined words. Someone said
a critic once said Ethelbert’s poems failed because they
were filled with too much desire and despair. The world
doesn’t need another Neruda. Ethelbert in his last
interview said
“Love is a fragile thing and will always suffocate in
darkness.”
